A top class quarter
Plenty of space and noble design in the Westspitze Güterbahnhof
Tübingen is not only extremely popular with students. Working people, families and senior citizens also like to live here. The university town has therefore had steadily rising population figures for years - and with it more and more demand for commercial space.
For this reason, 4,980 m² of new commercial space with around 34 commercial units in various sizes and with individual layouts has been planned at the western tip of the new goods station quarter.
The 7-storey commercial and office tower, which will be completed in 2020, is constructed using a modern timber hybrid construction method and is thus one of the first projects of this size in Germany. From the first floor upwards, the load-bearing structure consists of timber-concrete composite slabs suspended from the central reinforced concrete staircase core and rests on glulam wall panels at the façade level.
In the meantime, offices, practices and co-working spaces have found their place in the resource-saving construction. The visible best wood glulam ceilings in acoustic design create a special working atmosphere. The glulam ceiling, glazed in the colour "soft white", impresses with its modern design and serves as a visual highlight in all interior spaces.
